Beer Brats

I grill these first to get color and flavor on the brats, then finish/keep warm in the beer/onion sauce. It seems like a better way to keep all that grill flavor, and extend the ideal serving time/temperature of them at a party.

Ingredients Directions

  • 4 cans of beer (something on the light side)
  • 1 large onion, diced large
  • 10 bratwurst
  • 2 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt

  1. Preheat an outdoor grill for medium-high heat.
  2. Combine the beer, onions, red pepper, garlic, salt, and pepper. Cook for 15 or so minutes until the onion soften and the beer reduces a bit.
  3. Cook the bratwurst on the grill for about 10 minuts total until a nice color forms, but being careful not to let them burst
  4. Add to the beer/onion sauce to finish and keep.
  5. Serve with the sauce so people can add some if they want.
