Cheddar Cornmeal Biscuits

Cornmeal gives these biscuits a bit of a southern flare and everything is made better with cheese.

Ingredients Directions

  • 1 1/4 cups AP flour
  • 3/4 cup cornmeal
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 8 tbsp cold unsalted butter
  • 1 cup grated cheddar cheese
  • 3/4 to 1 cup buttermilk, plus extra for brushing

  1. Preheat oven to 450º F.
  2. Mix the flour, cornmeal, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Chop the butter into small cubes.
  4. Cut in the butter with a pastry blender.
  5. Stir in the cheese and buttermilk.
  6. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes on a parchment lined sheet pan.
