Basic instructions for croutons

Ingredients Directions

  • Bread, that's getting stale is a good candidate
  • Olive oil or melted butter to coat
  • Salt
  • Black pepper
  • Garlic powder, optional
  • Cayenne powder, optional
  • Italian seasoning, optional
  • Other seasonings if desired

  1. Heat oven to 375º F.
  2. Cube bread to desired size, for salads I like smaller ones so you get more bites with a crouton.
  3. Toss with oil and seasonings
  4. Spread into 1 layer on a foil lined sheet pan
  5. Bake until crisp all the way through, approximately 20 minutes.
